McCrorey Trails is bringing affordable homeownership opportunities to Montgomery County

June 01, 2025 • By Ellison Development

CONROE, TX — A new residential community, McCrorey Trails, is now under construction in Conroe, bringing affordable homeownership opportunities and meaningful design to Montgomery County. New homes are now selling, and model homes are available for touring.

Developed by Ellison Development and built by D.R. Horton, McCrorey Trails spans 60 acres and features 291 homes across three sections. Homes are part of D.R. Horton’s Tradition Series, offering 3- to 4-bedroom layouts with 2 bathrooms and 1-car garages. Floor plans start at approximately 1,158 square feet, with pricing beginning below $200,000—an affordable option for families seeking more space and a strong sense of community.

“At Ellison Development, our mission has always been to create communities that support the American dream,” said Bill Ellison, founder of Ellison Development. “We care deeply about affordability and take pride in building neighborhoods where families can grow and thrive.”

What sets McCrorey Trails apart is its deep sense of identity. The community is rich in history and rooted in the legacy of the McCrorey family—whose name is woven into the land through generations in Conroe and ancestral ties to Scotland and Ireland. Several of the community’s street names honor the McCrorey family’s grandchildren, adding a personal touch that reflects its heritage-driven theme.

McCrorey Trails also builds on the growing momentum of the area, joining Ellison Development’s William Trails—an established community just minutes away that has welcomed hundreds of homeowners. Together, the two communities offer buyers multiple affordable options with their own unique character and charm.

Community amenities at McCrorey Trails include a catch-and-release pond and a thoughtfully designed park featuring a playground, basketball court, pickleball court, and a shaded picnic area. The park also includes interactive Contrabass Chimes and a misting area to help kids cool off during play-designed to promote connection, wellness, and outdoor fun.

Though located in Conroe, McCrorey Trails is zoned to Willis ISD, including Cannan Elementary, Lynn Lucas Middle School, and Willis High School. Residents enjoy quick access to The Market at Willis, Lake Conroe, downtown Willis and Conroe, and Sam Houston National Forest.

McCrorey Trails is one of several communities developed by Ellison Development, a company recognized for redefining affordable living through intentional, family-focused neighborhoods across the Greater Houston region.
